Services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018, for Brenda Bericia Blyden, who died peacefully on Monday, October 1, 2018, at her residence.
Brenda was a former Corrections officer at the V.I. Bureau of Corrections, including working special assignments on the security team for Gov. Dr. Charles Turnbull. She was also a member of the Hugga Bunch Carnival troupe for many years and participated in activities with the V.I. Carnival Committee from 2013-2015.
Services will be held at Christchurch Methodist Church in Market Square on Saturday. Tributes will begin at 10:00 a.m. with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. There will be no viewing. Interment will be in Eastern Cemetery following the services.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Turnbull’s Funeral Home and Crematory Services. Attendees are encouraged to wear an article of pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Samuel; father, Joseph E. Blyden; and sister, Glenett Blyden.
She is survived by her sons, Lynford “Tony” Rabsatt, Heigel Farrell Jr.; daughters, Linette and Lynelle Rabsatt; sisters, Faith Blyden Edwards, Maxine Holmes and Patricia Henderson; brothers, Joseph E. Blyden Jr., and David Meyers III; grandchildren, Ka’Shawn Rabsatt, DeShawn Rabsatt, Julynne Rabsatt, Jayden Rabsatt, Tariq Rouse, Anthony Cheltenham Jr., Anjanique Cheltenham, Nihmaya Farrell and Heigel Farrell III; aunts, Joyce Jones, Una Rabsatt, Gracia Blyden, Rosemary George; uncle, Raphael Blyden; stepmother, Charlotte A. Blyden; brothers-in-law, Clarence Holmes Jr., Ethelson Edwards Sr. and James Henderson Sr.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Meyers; daughter-in-law, Jacquiel Rabsatt; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
She is also survived by extended family members, including the Blyden, Christopher, Venzen, Farrington, Frazer and Samuel families in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.
